350 × 2100 µm, 18 mm long — 1 of 16 channels (Fluidic 561). A computer render of the design, not a photograph: its body drawn see-through, its channels in orange. The chip is 22.5 mm × 5.1 mm × 2.15 mm. Beside it, its cross-section across the middle, and a 500 µm window around the channel, which is 2.1 mm wide and 350 µm deep there.
Rendered from its design files, not photographed: the body see-through, the channels orange, and its cross-section beside it. Pictures in one family share one scale.

Internal geometry — X-ray

X-ray see-through view of 350 × 2100 µm, 18 mm long — 1 of 16 channels (Fluidic 561): plan footprint (true scale) and z-exaggerated isometric of the internal channel and two bores

See-through internal view. Left: fluid footprint in plan, true scale (teal); ports show as the wider circles. Right: isometric of the internal void, vertical z exaggerated 3× for visibility. The exterior is an opaque solid block — this is what is inside it.

Description

A single monolithic block for resin SLA with one straight rectangular channel 350 µm deep × 2100 µm wide, running the full 18.0 mm port-to-port at mid-height, a solid floor below and ceiling above, and two Ø1.5 mm vertical access bores to the top surface. The vendor part is a sealed polymer body carrying 16 identical parallel channels — this reproduces ONE of them, in a different physical construction. Footprint 22.5 × 5.1 × 2.15 mm.

This models one channel of 16. The microfluidic ChipShop part is a flow cell carrying 16 identical parallel channels. The vendor publishes the channel cross-section and length but no channel pitch and no chip outline, so reproducing the array would mean inventing the spacing. One channel is modelled at the vendor’s exact dimensions instead.

Corrected 2026-07-31: rebuilt at the vendor’s channel length. This chip was previously modelled at 20 mm port-to-port — our own choice, made before the vendor length was on record. microfluidic ChipShop states 18 mm. Length is not cosmetic: channel volume, residence time and pressure drop all scale with it. Anyone who printed our old bundle expecting Fluidic 561 behaviour got 11% more volume than the real part, with a correspondingly longer residence time and a different pressure drop. The analytic channel volume moves from 14.700 µL to 13.230 µL. The bundle has been replaced, not amended — STL, void STL, SCAD and every render are rebuilt at 18 mm. The channel cross-section is unchanged at 350 × 2100 µm.

Provenance & caveats

Vendor-attributed: channel cross-section H × W, channel length (18.0 mm), and the 16-channel count (product page). OUR design (not the vendor’s): the chip footprint. One channel of many: the vendor part carries 16 identical parallel channels; this models ONE. The vendor publishes no channel pitch and no chip outline, so an 16-channel copy would require inventing the spacing. Ports are simplified straight cylindrical bores, standing in for the vendor’s MFCS Mini Luer sockets. Printability: px_min = 18.42 px in X and 14.58 px in Y on the Phrozen Sonic Mighty 12K (19 × 24 µm), and 46.05 px on the BYU Nordin printer (7.6 µm/px). These are pixel counts; for the process limits on record for each printer, see Hardware and process. Status — Phrozen Sonic Mighty 12K design, checked in CAD: the geometry is watertight and volumetrically checked in CAD — see the Verification table above for the numbers.

SLA adaptation. Channel cross-section (H × W), channel length and channel count taken from the microfluidic ChipShop product page. This is a monolithic 3D-print adaptation of ONE channel of a multi-channel flow cell, NOT a vendor part.
