20 µL / 500 µm reaction chamber — our footprint (Fluidic 584). A computer render of the design, not a photograph: its body drawn see-through, its channels in orange. The chip is 27.9 mm × 7 mm × 2.3 mm. Beside it, its cross-section across the middle.
Rendered from its design files, not photographed: the body see-through, the channels orange, and its cross-section beside it. Pictures in one family share one scale.

Internal geometry — X-ray

X-ray see-through view of 20 µL / 500 µm reaction chamber — our footprint (Fluidic 584): plan fluid footprint (true scale) and z-exaggerated isometric of the internal void

See-through internal view. Left: fluid footprint in plan, true scale (teal); ports show as the wider circles. Right: isometric of the internal void, vertical z exaggerated 3× for visibility. The exterior is an opaque solid block — this is what is inside it.

Description

A single monolithic resin-SLA block (Phrozen Sonic Mighty 12K, 19 × 24 µm non-square) with one 20 µL, 500 µm-deep stadium reaction chamber, two straight 0.5 mm feed channels on the same floor, and two Ø1.5 mm vertical access bores to the top surface. The vendor part is a COC body sealed with a foil lid — this is a different monolithic construction that reproduces the chamber's fluidic spec only. Footprint 27.86 × 7.0 × 2.3 mm.

The footprint here is ours, not the vendor’s. microfluidic ChipShop publishes only the chamber volume (20 µL), its depth (500 µm) and the port count. Those are the functional specification of a reaction chamber and the model reproduces them exactly. The shape is not on record: we chose a 4 mm chamber width and solved the stadium length from area = volume ÷ depth, which is why the chamber reads 27.86 mm long here. It will not fit a ChipShop holder and is not dimensionally interchangeable with the vendor part.

All geometry checks run with trimesh (merged vertices) on the exported STLs. See the bundled README for the full method.

Provenance & caveats

Vendor-attributed: the 20 µL chamber, 500 µm depth and 2 ports are from the vendor product page. OUR design (not the vendor’s): the footprint (27.86 × 7.0 × 2.3 mm), the stadium aspect, and the straight feed channels + cylindrical ports. The vendor TDS is robots-blocked. Ports = straight bores, standing in for the vendor’s MFCS Mini Luer sockets. Status — Phrozen Sonic Mighty 12K design, checked in CAD: the geometry is watertight and volumetrically checked in CAD — see the Verification table above for the numbers.
